Logged in this morning to see that my blog ranking at Technoranki has moved from a tantalising 8 to a highly improbable 9. Out of 9, if you don’t mind! (There aren’t any 10-rated blogs). I’m now a stone’s throw (distance and weight of stone not yet known) from the list of 50 top blogs. According to britblog. Which might not even be very popular itself, I suppose.
But still, it’s one for the old ego, and no mistake, and it’s all because of my witty and erudite scribblings; my thoughts are valued across the world, and my humorous asides admired and respected for their pith from Cape Dezhnev to Cape Prince of Wales. In short, I am loved.
Or it could be because I wrote some php application that a bunch of poker players seem to find useful. And every now and then one of them stumbles into another part of the site because the converter is playing up and they want to see if any of my web pages will load.
Either way, this is just the beginning!

I have no idea what old Marky-Moo is up to with the ranking stuff. I’m currently a (lowly) five, having been a nine previously, and yet, I’m up at #17 in the top blogs list. Hopefully things will settle down now he’s back from holiday and can clear the odd log-jam.
/me remembers to doff his cap to the number nine as he leaves.
I did notice odd things going on in the ranks, which was a handy reminder not to take these things too seriously. I saw at least a couple of other highly rated (and regarded) sites that had strangely low ranks. No doubt he’ll catch a gremlin soon enough, and I’ll be humbly demoted.
Well, I’m still a 9 here, but now I’m down to a 7 in my Britblog listing. Strange fruit.
Now I didn’t know you could do that. It says I’m a 9 too. \o/
