A foggy north-west ensured I held off Lawro’s challenge last week, which ties the scores at 1-1. For once my faith in Liverpool to produce the goods was completely rewarded, albeit by a dodgy penalty decision and a slightly fortunate cross-cum-shot-cum-loopy thing into the far corner. Note this week how my attention drifts off half-way through, as the commentary runs dry. Next week, look out for the exciting new game - “Predict Mark Lawrenson”, in which I attempt to predict what the pundit’s own predictions will be…

Arsenal v Blackburn Arsenal could struggle against a physical Blackburn side, but Terry will score his 100th league goal at Highbury to secure the points

BBGV: 2-1 ML: 2-0

Aston Villa v Charlton Who knows? Charlton are off the boil, but a bad run recently points towards at least a point this weekend.

BBGV: 1-1 ML: 2-1

Man City v Liverpool I’m not so much supporting Liverpool these days as supporting Peter Crouch. I spent the whole of the Real Betis game on Wednesday kicking and heading phantom footballs in an attempt to help poor old crouchy find the net. Luckily, without scoring, he still had another great game. Despite a habit of not winning this fixture in the Premiership (once only), surprise surprise, I’m going for an away win…

BBGV: 1-2 ML: 0-2

Portsmouth v Chelsea Managerless teams can spring surprises from time to time. This isn’t one of them.

BBGV: 0-1 ML:

Sunderland v Birmingham The least exciting prospect of the season? Surely. Which is why it’s all set up for a cracking goal-fest!

BBG: 3-2 ML: 1-2

Wigan v Tottenham

BBGV: 1-1 ML: 1-1

Everton v Newcastle

BBGV: 1-0 ML: 2-1

Fulham v Bolton

BBGV: 2-1 ML: 1-1

Middlesbrough v West Brom

BBGV: 2-0 ML: 1-1

West Ham v Man Utd

BBGV: 1-1 ML: 0-2

A tense 9-9 draw between BBGV and the BBC’s premier predictor this week. Looks like I should have had some money on today’s games, with 2 out of 4 spot on…
